UI Design
Conceptualising a Regenerative Marketplace for a Circular Economy
Digital solution initiative for an NGO
Challenge
For the long term stability of the planet, we need to make it easier to produce, access and use materials.
From structural elements to packaging to furniture, existing structural elements are still produced inefficiently, store toxins, and break down requiring repair and costly replacements in short amounts of time.
Goal
Conceptualise a regenerative materials solution that fits a Global Resource-Based Economy.
B2C consumer purchases
AI selection assistance
Interactive room visualisation
Solution
Imagine if we could renew our homes with regenerative materials in one click.
Structures need to be sustainable and cost-effective long term. This marketplace offers an easy way to search and purchase regenerative material replacements for existing home elements. 3D assistive AI scans solutions that tailor to individual needs and preferences.
RESEARCH
Determining a framework based on key success factors.
The team is currently working on several initiatives, including materials and energy, to support a circular economy. Given the time and complexity needed to come up with a real solution, this design approach would require experimentation, prototyping and consistent feedback loops.
IDEATION
Experimenting with a visual design that conveys a holistic system.
Approaching this from an experimental viewpoint gave me freedom to conceptualise possible hands-on solutions that citizens could use globally, from their mobile phones. I ideated on original UI elements and branding, and did not use any current material, projects or branding from Venus Project. The materials marketplace idea is based on the needs of the overarching mission, but the concept is my own.
Designing and animating organic elements to enhance brand identity.
Playing with elements emerging, appearing and converging from off-screen, I spent time sketching visual solutions that convey the synthesis of organic materials and hi-tech concepts through user-friendly design.
Ideating organic motion interactions.
When designing for an organisation dealing with complex, high impact solutions, it's especially important that the brand maintain visual simplicity and create intuitive interactions. This conveys the message that although the task may seem daunting or utopian, we can all contribute to sustainable progress with individual, forward movements.
High fidelity, interactive prototype for key user flow.
To get a better sense of how the full interaction would work, I designed the steps needed to choose and purchase a regenerative material to replace the material in an existing room. I aim to present these designs to the team and get feedback, hopefully with the chance to work with them in the future.
